Celtic muziek

Celtische muziek is een genre dat zijn wortels heeft in de traditionele muziek van de Keltische volkeren, die in Ierland, Schotland, Wales, Bretagne, Cornwall en Galicië leven. Het omvat een breed scala aan muziekstijlen, waaronder ballades, jigs, reels, polka’s, hornpipes en airs.

Enkele van de meest voorkomende instrumenten in de Keltische muziek zijn de viool, de fluit, de bodhrán (een Ierse trommel), de harp, de doedelzak, de accordeon en de bouzouki.

De muziek heeft vaak een melancholische, emotionele sfeer en de teksten gaan vaak over verhalen uit de Keltische mythologie, liefde, oorlog en het dagelijks leven.

Celtische muziek heeft de afgelopen decennia aan populariteit gewonnen en heeft vele subgenres en moderne interpretaties voortgebracht, waaronder Keltische rock en Keltische fusion.
